About Us
Raised with Tender Loving Care
Welcome to Five Mile Farm. We have been raising full-sized Australian Shepherds in The Brazos Valley of central Texas since 1977. Our dogs can be found in numerous states throughout the US, and we can easily provide referrals/testimonials from our satisfied customers. Our dogs are registered thru ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) and a few are registered with AKC (American Kennel Club) as well. We will never restrict breeding rights on our pups, as they will all come with full registrations or none at all.
Five Mile Farm is owned and run by two Veterinarians with 90 years of experience between us. We remove the dew claws and dock the tails of all our pups around three days of age. Our pups are well cared for and will never leave the property without all of their age appropriate vaccinations and dewormings. All of our adult dogs have had their parentage verified by DNA testing as required by ASCA.

Getting an Aussie can be the beginning of a life-long obsession. These dogs are incredibly smart and can be trained to do almost any activity. You won't be disappointed if you want your new companion to work livestock, babysit children, or just be an incredible watch dog. Australian Shepherds thrive when they have "a job" and will almost tie themselves into knots trying to please their family members.
A Furever Friend
Australian Shepherds are healthy, active, and fun-loving critters. They love to play and please their owners. Their long hair coats can be brushed quite often; as this activity can be a very rewarding task for dog and owner alike.
Aussies; like all other dogs, should receive regular heartworm prevention. They should never be given heartworm products that contain the active ingredient "Ivermectin" without being tested first for the presence or absence of an enzyme that is needed for the metabolism of this compound. Please, please, please discuss this with your Veterinarian as a small chat could save you a lot of heartache.
